A monumental achievement! The official film festival version of “The Messenger” is nearly complete; it is currently exporting, then I’ll transfer the 3.5 gigabyte files to our iMac to burn the Master DVD. After that (another 2 hour or so process) I’ll re-watch the movie to make sure there are no glitches (1:15:39 is the official running time) and make copies for mailing.
Many thanks to Steve K. for helping with the ‘finishing touches’ of 1,700 frames needing to have the Ice Museum marquee removed (so that I may replace the sign with the “Jessie Show” logo).
It’s been just over a year since the first shoot, and about 18 months since the “real” writing began (before that it was just pieces, parts and notes for about a decade).
Yesterday I was present to see Alaska Governor Sean Parnell sign Bill 23 (the Alaska Film Incentive) into law (with much thanks to the fine work of our Director of Photography Maya Salganek).
The first Festival I plan to send the movie to is the Tel Aviv Spirit Film Festival – which I find very fitting considering their mission statement: “Tel Aviv Spirit Film Festival is a forum for filmmakers who create films with themes that inspire transformation and personal growth, promote positive global activism and create environmental awareness.”
