Newport Live is a non-profit organization and registered charity that provides theater, art, sports, recreation and cultural services in the town of Newport at sites and in the wider community. Newport Live operates one of South Wales’ premier arts venues, the Riverfront Theater and Arts Center, and is now seeking to appoint a Theater, Arts and Culture Officer to lead the service through the exciting times in to come.
The Head of Theater, Arts and Culture plays an extremely important role within Newport Live and requires that a candidate have a high level of creative thinking, excellent leadership and business management skills and the ability manage a varied workload in a rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will be a cultural champion with a passion for the arts as well as demonstrable experience leading and inspiring a diverse team, ensuring that the Riverfront Theater & Arts Center and the theater, arts program and Culture of Newport Live operate to the highest possible standards. , maximizing potential in all areas of the arts and seeking to engage with all communities in the region.
The Riverfront Theater plays a vital role in developing a high quality and ambitious cultural offering in Newport and the surrounding area. It presents a diverse program of cross art forms throughout the year, including commercially oriented events and experimental and risky work that support the professional development of artists living and working in Wales.
The Riverfront is currently receiving business development support through the Arts Council of Wales Resilience Program and is also developing a new and diverse Arts & Culture sub-group to enhance and support the Newport Live Board to shape and to support the new and emerging 3-5- year strategy for theater, arts and culture for Newport Live, which will fit into the City of Newport’s cultural strategy.
The Head of Theater, Arts & Culture will lead an artistic vision for the Riverfront Theater & Arts Center, which will include extensive engagement and participation programs, as well as the further development of a broad program of events at Both business and artistic, effectively leading the liaison with a range of stakeholders both internal and external is key to success in this role.
