Classic car exhibition set for Sunday

The Mohican Model A Ford Club will be holding its 60th Annual Classic Car Show and Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 12 at the Wampsville Fire Field.

About 800 cars spanning the years 1900 to 1989 will be on display. More than 150 flea market vendors will offer both automotive and general antiques, collectibles, and more. Another feature is the “Car Corral” where owners can display vintage cars for sale.

There is no admission charge for visitors, but they are encouraged to contribute to show expenses by purchasing raffle tickets to win several hundred dollars in prizes. Raffle tickets are only available at the fairgrounds. The show goes on, rain or shine.

The village council organizes a special meeting

Dolgeville Village Council will hold a special meeting to discuss staff at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 9 at the village hall.

HERKIMER

Sale of Pierogi and golumbki planned

There will be a pierogi and golumbki sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 11 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 324 Moore Ave., Herkimer.

Pierogi with potatoes and cheese or potatoes and sauerkraut sell for $7 a dozen. Golumbki sells for $26 per dozen; $13 for half a dozen or three pieces for $6.50. All are fully cooked.

FORT PLAIN

Monthly forum, weekly programs start at the library

Area residents are invited to dig up their family histories, scrapbooks, vintage photo albums, postcards and keepsakes as the Fort Plain Free Library, 19 Willett St., Fort Plain, renews its forum roundtable on local history on Wednesday, September 15.

Aimed at Fort Plain, Nelliston and Town of Minden residents with an interest in local history, the free gathering is hosted by local history buff Rob Carter and Fort Plain and Minden historian Eileen Chambers. The informal discussion group meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Dial 518-993-4646 for more information.

The library is also beginning its series of weekly programs, including story time for children, a virtual meditation workshop, creative fibres, creative writing and innovation for teenagers.

ILT is about to present “Jeeves at Sea”

The Ilion Little Theater will open its season with the comedy “Jeeves at Sea,” September 17-19 and September 24-26, at The Stables, 13 Remington Ave., Ilion.

The story, adapted by Margaret Raether from the stories by PD Wodehouse and directed by Char Lyon, begins when Bertie Wooster and his valet, Jeeves, board the yacht Vanderley. Bertie soon finds himself disguised as a novelist and his friend, Crumpet, posing as his own long-lost twin. It’s up to Jeeves to sort it all out.

This year’s Mustang weekend will include the 50th anniversary reunion of the classes of 1970, which was postponed last year, and 1971.
