Queen Margrethe has always been interested in the performing arts and she is participating today in a press conference on the occasion of the resumption of the show “Frozen”. “The Snow Queen” was born two years ago from an artistic collaboration between the Queen of Denmark, the musician Nanna Øland Fabricius and the choreographer Yuri Possokhov.
The ballet show, at the Tivoli in Copenhagen, is a reinterpretation of the fairy tales of the same name by HC Andersen, and the costumes and set design of the show are designed by Queen Margrethe.
The queen, Fabricius and Possokhov already worked together on the show “Cinderella” in 2016. As part of the press conference on November 24, 2021, a scene from the ballet show was shown.
Queen Margrethe was, as always, precise in her response when responding to questions from the press at Wednesday’s press conference. It has been 20 years since Queen Margrethe first assumed the role of stage designer and costume designer at a performance in Tivoli, and since then she has participated in a total of eight plays which have been presented in total. on 20 different occasions. She also paints and embroiders for her personal artistic expression, and her pieces have been featured in several exhibitions.
Earlier this fall, it was also revealed that Queen Margrethe will be providing the sets and costumes for an upcoming fantasy film to air through Netflix. The Danish monarch was employed to design the sets and costumes for an upcoming Ehrengard adaptation of a Karen Blixen novel. Blixen, a Danish author, is best known for her autobiography, Out of Africa, which was adapted into a 1985 film starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.
Frozen will be played daily from December 1 through Christmas Eve.
