Watch UC and OSU football games on the big screen at the Murphy Theater this weekend
WILMINGTON – The Murphy Theater becomes Wilmington’s largest living room as the University of Cincinnati’s football playoff game against Alabama plays on Murphy’s big screen Friday, Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m., followed Saturday by THE Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Utah in the Grandfather of All, the Rose Bowl, at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Yeah, what started as a few of us from the Murphy Theater sitting down to watch the games on our very big screen has now turned into a moment of sharing as we thought, ‘Hey, why don’t we do the neighbor thing and invite friends?”
Admission to these games is free, but we ask that you bring non-perishable food items to donate to the cause as we “kick off” our United We Weigh, Two-Ton food drive campaign to help our two local pantries. Throughout 2022, The Murphy Theater will be collecting non-perishable food donations which we will then deliver to our two food pantries at the end of each month.
Our goal is one ton of food for every pantry.
In addition to your non-perishable food donations, we will also be accepting cash donations to help with disaster relief efforts for our neighbors in southern Kentucky who suffered such horrific damage with the recent series of tornadoes.
No outside food or drink will be allowed – other than these non-perishable donations of course – but the bar and concessions at Murphy Theater – Charlie’s Cast & Crew, the hippest place to enjoy a drink, will open one hour before each game with celebrity mixologist Bob Baylor serving up your favorite drinks of all kinds. Plus, we’ll also be selling our award-winning hot popcorn, hot pretzels, candies and, as a special treat, hot dogs!
What’s a football game without those coveted tubes of unidentifiable meat products? So be a winner, buy a sausage!
Friday’s game is at 3:30 p.m., Saturday’s at 5:00 p.m. Charlie’s Cast & Crew opens one hour before each game, theater doors open 30 minutes before kickoff. No reservations are required or taken, these will be general seating except for a few of our special season pass seats.
We are keeping this event family friendly, so your cooperation is appreciated.
If you feel sick, have chills or a fever and have not been vaccinated, we encourage you to stay home and recover.
